Aircraft Design Workshop

The ADW program was developed as an interactive museum exhibit that allows the user to investigate the trade-offs involved in the design of a commercial transport aircraft. The aircraft wing geometry, cruise conditions, tail configuration, seating layout, propulsion system and range are chosen by clicking on a variety of options. The aircraft performance and constraints are evaluated using standard preliminary design methods, and the results are displayed in colorful graphic form. A simple expert system helps the user meet field length, climb, range, and thrust constraints.
