Wing Design

This page allows you to change the wing size and shape. Several selections are displayed and you may choose the wing sweep, area, and aspect ratio. As you select each item, the shape of your wing is shown on the right with important dimensions.

Increasing the wing sweep adds weight, but can lower the drag at high speeds. Sweep also reduces the maximum lift of the wing, increasing take-off and landing distances.

Adding more area improves take-off performance, but may increase cruise drag. If the required wing lift is too high, increasing the area can reduce losses due to shock waves.
